Welcome to Sports Recovery Massage
"If you don't make time for your wellness, you will be forced to make time for your illness."
-Joyce Sunada My philosophy is simple; I believe the human body can heal itself. In that, I facilitate a natural healing process by listening to and understanding each client's needs by working together in the development of individualized treatment plans. My mission is to provide focused massage therapy to each client, by continuously listening to my client's and tailoring each session to ensure the best possible outcome. I will do this according to these values; Respect: Every person that enters my treatment space will be treated with respect. Education: It is my role as a therapist to educate and empower my client's knowledge about their bodies. How they can enhance their own wellbeing through exercise, stretching, and postural awareness. Results: It is my innate desire as a massage therapist to see measurable results. I care just as much as my client's do about them feeling better. If I am unable to achieve the desired results within the scope of my skills, rest assured I will recommend practitioners who I work with who might be able to help. Sports Recovery Massage was established in 2016. My practice not only serves fitness enthusiasts and professional athletes, but it also caters to individuals who are seeking pain relief. Services include:
Swedish Massage Deep Tissue Massage Myofascial Release Trigger Point Therapy Sports Massage Cupping therapy Stretching Mat-Based Thai Massage |
SPORTS MASSAGE: $100/60min $140/90min
Sports massage is geared towards athletes of all kinds, from world class professionals to the weekend jogger. This particular massage is specific to the athlete's sport of choice. I will focus on areas of the body that are overused and stressed from repetitive and often aggressive movements.
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE: $100/60min $140/90min
Myofascial release refers to the manual massage technique for stretching the fascia and releasing bonds between fascia and muscle, with the goal of eliminating pain and increasing range of motion. Myofascial release involves applying sheer compression or tension in various directions.
SWEDISH MASSAGE: $100/60min $140/90min
Swedish massage uses long flowing strokes, kneading and circular movements. This is the most requested massage technique, and it has been shown to help reduce pain. Swedish massage promotes relaxation.
TRIGGER POINT THERAPY: $100/60min $140/90min
This popular modality is one where I identify hyper-irritable spots on skeletal muscle that are associated with palpable nodules or knots in taut bands in muscle fibers. Compression of a trigger point may elicit local tenderness, referred pain or local twitch response. This therapy is for individuals who suffer with stress induced pain or injury.
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE: $100/60min $140/90min
Deep tissue massage is a technique that is mainly used to treat musculoskeletal issues, such as strains and sports injuries. It involves applying sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target the inner layers of connective tissue and muscles. This technique helps break up scar tissue that forms following an injury and aids in reducing tension in the tissues and muscles.
MAT-BASED THAI BODYWORK: $165/90mins $190/120mins
Mat-based Thai massage is a technique that is performed on a mat on the floor, with the client fully clothed. This style of bodywork has roots in Thai massage. Broad, sustained compressions are incorporated that will allow the nervous system to relax. As this happens through compressions and gentle rocking, the therapist is able to sink more deeply into the tissue. Mat-based massage is known to provide target pain relief to the neck, upper and lower back, hips, legs, and arms. It enhances mobility, blood circulation to the tissues, and range of motion. Mat-based massage is non-invasive and suitable for most individuals.
CUPPING THERAPY:
Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine, in which a therapist places a special cup on the skin for a few minutes. Cupping increases blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed. This may help relieve muscle tension, improve overall blood flow and promote cell repair. Side effects from cupping therapy are temporary and include bruising and soreness. Not all clients will have bruising and bruising subsides within a couple of days to a week, depending on level of stagnation in the tissues.
PASSIVE STRETCHING: $30/30mins $60/60mins
Stretching is an excellent way to improve mobility and flexibility. A passive stretch is when an external force is utilized to provide the stretch. This can be accomplished through partner stretches, using stretching accessories and/or letting gravity assist in the stretch. Passive stretching is reliant on an external force.
